| Hey John,
On 1:1 calls, I often ask people: "What's the part of your story you've never shared professionally?"
Then they tell me something they've been carrying around for YEARS.
Something they're convinced would make people think less of them.
Something they've buried so deep they'd almost forgotten it was there.
And almost every single time?
That thing turns out to be their superpower.
The messy backstory that shaped exactly WHY they do what they do.
The "failure" that taught them everything they now teach others.
The struggle they went through that means they actually GET what their clients are experiencing.
The thing they thought made them less credible? It's the thing that makes them MORE trustworthy. More relatable. More magnetic.
This happens ALL the time.
We hide the bits of ourselves we think are "too much." Too messy. Too weird. Too unprofessional.
But those are often the exact bits that would make someone go: "Oh my god. Finally. Someone who GETS it."
So many of us walk through the world feeling like no one gets us.
And all connection really is? It's feeling seen. Feeling heard. Feeling understood.
Once you've got food, shelter, physical safety - the next thing we want is CONNECTION.
And you can't create that connection with a sanitised, professional, vanilla version of yourself.
On a recent call, someone realised she'd been toning down her abilities because she was afraid people would think she was "big-headed."
But when we flipped it, she saw that if her dream clients knew how skilled she actually was? They'd feel CONFIDENT. COMPELLED. REASSURED.
Her toning herself down wasn't protecting her. It was robbing them.
Someone else realised she'd been hiding her imposter syndrome - terrified that if people knew she sometimes felt like a fraud, they'd think she wasn't good at her job.
But actually? If she shared that honestly, her dream clients would feel SEEN. Because they feel exactly the same way. And suddenly she's not some untouchable expert - she's one of them.
Because I've watched too many brilliant people hide the exact things that would make them magnetic.
And partly because of AI, partly because of the same coaches coaching everyone the same way - there is SO much noise online right now. And it all sounds the same. It's bland. It's vanilla.
The people who are still selling? The ones cutting through?
They're doing it because they're being really, truly, authentically themselves.
This Wednesday, 17th December, 2-3pm. £97.
We'll dig into the stuff you wouldn't normally think of as "business relevant" - and turn it into the thing that helps you cut through.
Because the goal isn't to go share your deepest wounds with the internet. It's not about over-sharing.
It's to figure out what you COULD share. And then decide intentionally what feels aligned and relevant and good to share - and what's just yours.
Even knowing which bits are yours to keep? That still informs how you show up everywhere else.
P.S. One of my favourite things someone said after a session: "I didn't expect that one today." This work goes places you don't expect. And that's where the gold is. ❤️
