Stay-at-Home Mum to Confident Copywriter - Abigail's Story
Abigail had been out of the traditional job market for some time as a stay-at-home mum.
After going through a divorce, and with her kids getting older and more independent, she wanted to get back to work, but the corporate environment didn't appeal anymore.
"I didn't want to go back to that corporate rat race," Abigail said. "I like to say nine to five, but it was never nine to five."
When she saw an ad for a copywriting course, it piqued her interest. (Spoiler: It was mine! 😂)
She had always enjoyed words, language, and analysing ads.
The course offered a way to turn her interests into a flexible, work-from-home career.
However, starting a business was daunting... 👀
"I had BIG trepidation doing something out of my comfort zone, not only pursuing something that I haven't been trained for but also running my own business," Abigail said.
Abigail told me afterwards that The Copywriting Business Course demystified copywriting and business ownership. She'd gained new skills through practicing her writing and supportive, encouraging feedback.
Abigail told me the biggest break-though for her was not feeling nervous putting her work out there because of how supportive the community was:
"Just to get over that step and put something out there for the first time ever. And realising that because everybody is so supportive, I didn't feel scared."
Now, Abigail feels much more confident in her abilities. She enjoys the creative challenges of copywriting and is looking forward to building something that's just hers now the kids have flown the nest!
She finally feels confident that she can not only get paid to write, but that she can handle the business side of things too.
Her advice to others considering the course but doubting their abilities?
"It is very achievable. Chantelle and the community are so supportive. Go and do it."
